ABOUT US
Kovai Drilling Applications is a Silicon Valley–based precision drilling technology company built on 30+ years of engineering and manufacturing expertise.
We design high-performance Down-The-Hole (DTH) hammer systems for mining, water well, and geotechnical applications, engineered through data, not convention.
Every product is validated through structured
Finite element analysis (FEA)
Field trials with Expert drillers before deployment
Our piston design is at the core of performance — optimized for:
Longer stroke length → increased energy transfer
Higher impact force → improved penetration rates
Controlled stress distribution → enhanced durability and fatigue life
Using FEA-driven iteration, we refine geometry, mass distribution, and contact zones to maximize impact efficiency while minimizing wear and failure modes.
Our team brings deep expertise in materials, precision tolerancing, supplier qualification, and real-world benchmarking, enabling solutions where standard products fall short. With proven field performance in North America and growing adoption across quarry, hard rock mining, and water well markets, Kovai is building the next generation of drilling systems from the ground up.
Testimonials
The Kovai 6" class hammer performs excellently at all depths. In my 36 years of hard rock drilling experience, I feel it is quite possibly the fastest penetrating hammer on the market today!!
In the hard, abrasive iron ore at Mont-Wright Mine, the Kovai DTH hammer delivers excellent penetration with outstanding reliability. It handles tough conditions with ease and keeps our drilling efficient and consistent.
We tested Kovai DTH hammers against major brands in multiple quarries. They delivered strong penetration, reliable performance, and excellent service life in tough rock conditions. Based on their overall performance and durability, we adopted 5-inch and 6-inch Kovai hammers for our South Carolina drilling operations.
We recently had a multiwater well project near Pinnacles National Park, east of Soledad, CA. The lithology consisted of upper sandstone and decomposed granite followed by hard, weathered granitic rock. Prior to the Kovai hammer with 7.5" bit, we were averaging 140' per day with 6" button bits and drill collars and various other hammers. Once we switched to the Kovai hammer, our production increased to 120' per hour average. With auxiliary air, we were able to reach 660' on multiple holes that were producing in excess of 60 gallons per minute. We look forward to Kovai launching larger hammers and we appreciate their local distributorship and assistance
We've been using Kovai's 8-inch DTH hammer for the past two years, and it's performed very well in our water well drilling operations. It has delivered reliable performance while saving us money compared to some of the bigger brands. I'd definitely recommend giving Kovai a try if you're looking for quality and value
